Although yoga is not my favorite form of exercise, I do walk away from every class feeling open and full of gratitude, and that is worth going every time. Getting caught up in our daily chores, responsibilities and goals is something that is inevitable, but if we could just find a few minutes to slow down and thank ourselves for the work we are already doing, we can change not only our mood but what the day holds for us as well.
Eckhart Tolle makes a great point when he says ” The purpose is to do everything in a sacred manner. As each human being is an integral part of the collective human consciousness, they affect the world much more deeply than is visible on the surface of their lives.”
The more we can appreciate and love ourselves, the more that we can generate love and enjoyment around us. This is something that has taken awhile for me to fully understand and manifest, but I must say that it has made a profound difference.
My favorite way to practice this is to send a simple note, text message or even make a phone call to a person I love. You will be surprised what a spontaneous “I love you” can do to not only lift up your mood but to change the entire course of your day. I have found the more love I put out there, the more love that comes back.
The goal is to express love, in any form, once a day. From there, start to become conscious of how your life changes, one “I love you” at a time.
