So today marks my 9th Liver/Gallbladder Flush. It is around 2 pm and all I have been sustaining on is apple juice with a greens powder it in. Yep, no food today, just fresh pressed apple juice and my cleansing drink tonight. Surprisingly I feel great!
Wait! Before you go any further, I would definitely suggest that you check out the post “Livin’ with a Liver” to find out exactly what the liver does, and why this whole flush is so very important. After you read it, then come back. Okay?
For all of you who have never heard of a liver/gallbladder flush, this is THE cleanse. Meaning that this flush is the real deal, full- body changing cleanse. The Liver Gallbladder flush is based on the idea that toxins build up in the liver and gallbladder (sometimes causing identifiable gallstones) and cause congestion. This congestion leads to a multitude of symptoms and diseases because of the great role the liver plays in the functioning of the human body.
In a nutshell you essentially drink fresh apple juice for 6 days (apple juice has malic acid which softens stones), and on the 6th day you fast on just apple juice and drink epson salts and olive oil with grapefruit at night. Over the night, the stones will be purged from the gallbladder and in the morning you will see a multitude of little gallstones come out (yes, in the toilet bowl). You are usually good to go by noon that next day. So essentially you just need to plan to stay home one night and one morning. That’s it!
I have stuck with this cleanse because it is one of the few cleanses where I have actually seen results. It is not the most pleasant cleanse in the world, but its certainly not that difficult either. Depending on your health status you might have to spend up to three months preparing for it using some liver and gallbladder nutrients, but if you have already been on a program or engaging in a healthy lifestyle, you might only need a month to prepare.
Why Cleanse the Liver and Gallbladder?
The liver is one of the most important organs in the body controlling over 400 functions. These functions range from full-body detoxification, synthesis of proteins, hormone control and production, as well as well nutrient and energy synthesis. Unfortunately our lifestyles cause the development of stones in the liver and gallbladder that are very detrimental to our health. Cleansing the liver and gallbladder from all accumulated stones helps to restore homeostasis, balances weight, and sets the precondition for the body to heal itself.
The liver has direct control over the growth and functioning of every cell in the body. What are the Stones in the Liver and Gallbladder?
20% are mineral-based, being made of calcium salts and bile pigments. There are also noncalcified stones which are often cholesterol-based, clumps of fat, hardened bile or pigments of bilirubin. These block the bile ducts, which cause stress on the organs and the rest of the body because they not only impair the organs’ functioning but inhibit proper bile flow.
What is Bile?
Bile assists in the digestion of fat, calcium and protein foods. It is needed to maintain normal fat levels in the blood, remove toxins from the liver, maintain proper acid/alkaline balance in the intestinal tract, and keep the colon from breeding harmful microbes.

Do I Need To Do a Flush?
I would say that everyone needs to do a flush. I started my first round of flushes at the age of 23, and at that point I thought that I had been relatively healthy. I had probably 30 stones come out on my first flush, and subsequently had some come out in my last 8 flushes as well. Any engagement in alcohol, processed or fatty foods can lead to gallstones not to mention, the worst of them all, Birth Control Pills. Birth control pills deplete your body of B6 which is key for liver and gallbladder function, therefore my 8 years of use made me a perfect candidate. I am not the only one either. In all my experience working with clients and practitioners, I have never heard anyone that did not get results from a flush. Therefore, I would definitely suggest for everyone to engage in a flush.

How do I Begin?
Because the liver gallbladder flush is a very serious cleansing process, I insist that you must do a intestinal cleanse beforehand. If the gut is not unobstructed and clear, it will not be to your advantage to do the flush. Therefore, please first begin with this basic intestinal cleanse first.
Once you have done your intestinal cleanse then you will be ready for your gallbladder and liver nutrient regime. Follow the directions here.
Can Anyone Do a Cleanse?
Anyone can do a cleanse, even if you do not have a gallbladder or have diseases of the liver and/or gallbladder. If you are in a compromised state such as dealing with chronic disease, autoimmune disease, cancer or are facing having your gallbladder removed, you are eligible to do the flush. But you MUST prepare months in advance. If you do not, then you will face having a very unpleasurable (this is me being nice) experience.
Once again, this is an advanced cleanse and should follow a kidney cleanse and an intestinal cleanse, but is beneficial for everyone in all states of health.
