Healthy Kitchen Tools

Now that we are all on board to becoming healthy cooking Top Chefs, let’s take a look at the essential tools you need to get you there. By starting with these healthy kitchen tools you’ll be whipping up impressive recipes in no time!

Note: These are all the tools I personally use and believe in. If I could have you over for a tour I would, but this is the best I can do for now 🙂

1. Vitamix Blender

Vitamix Blender

The BEST variable-speed blender. Essential for smoothies, soups, sauces, chopping etc. The vitamix is king in my mind, the essential tool for making healthy meals. Did I mention this is fabulous for making the CK’s Sweet Green Smoothie?

2. Convection Toaster Oven- Microwave Replacement

Hamilton Beach Toaster Oven

I personally use the Hamilton Beach Convection Toaster Oven. I think it is the best for heating, toasting and lightly cooking food, without all the harmful radiation and damage from microwaves. Learn more about why you should switch to a convection oven from a microwave here.

3. Electric Tea Kettle

Capresso Electric Tea Pot

LOVE LOVE LOVE this. Cannot live without it. Heat water for tea, smoothies, cooking grains and pasta. I also use it for reheating soup, such as my favorite, Creamy Broccoli Soup. My favorite brand is Capresso.

4. Water Filters

Zero Water Filter

ZeroWater Filter Pitcher

ZeroWater filtration systems are the only ones I recommend for over the counter filtration (Brita and Pur are not adequate). While installing a Reverse Osmosis under counter system would be ideal, this is the most efficient system if you are not able to invest the time or money at this time. If you are interested in an under the counter system, I recommend Aquasana.

5. A Juicer!

Breville Juicer

Love this juicer! It is really efficient, super easy to use, quiet and affordable. It is made by Breville and has variable speeds so you can juice vegetables or fruits of varying density. Perfect for making the THK Carrot Celery Juice or any other Green Juices from the THK Juice Guide.

6. Tea Steeper

Primula Flower Tea Set

Adagio Tea Ingenuitea Teapot

If you are a tea lover like me these two teapots make your life sooo easy. Since I love and only use loose leaf tea and herbs (are far more potent and higher quality), I can use these easily without having to use tea bags. Makes for a really tasty cup of tea that really captures the flavor. The first one is by Primula for multiple cups, and the second one is by Adagio for one cup.

7. Glass Straws

Glass Dharma Straw w Color

These will change your world! Drinking out of glass makes everything taste so much cleaner and smoother, not to mention fun! Excellent for any fresh juice, smoothie or nut milk! My favorite are by Glass Dharma, which also carry straight plain straws and straws with a bend. Drinking my Pink Lady Apple Juice from it now 🙂

8. Dehydrator

healthy kitchen tools dehydrator

Welcome to the Raw Food World! With this fabulous dehydrator I have been able to make my own raw bread, crackers, falafel, burgers, chz sticks, cacaco chocolates, quiche, fruit roll ups, dried fruit and vegetable chips! It slowly heats the food therefore extracting moisture but never reaches a temperature high enough to kill all the healthy nutrients and enzymes. What you are left with is delicious, “living” food. This Excalibur is my favorite brand so far. * If you are interested in getting into raw cooking, check out the wonderful home study course by Raw Chef Russell James– AMAZING.

9. Glass Water Bottle

Glass Water Bottle

Do yourself a favor and buy one of these awesome glass water bottles. Free of any harmful chemicals, including BPA, a known hormone disrupter and carcinogen, and set up with a no-break rubber padding. Nothing tastes as clean and pure as water from glass. Definitely my preference, and thankfully LifeFactory has come out with many fun colors too!

10. The Holy Kale Mug!

The Holy Kale Mug

Nothing feels healthier and gives you as much inspiration as drinking out of The Holy Kale mug! Every time you use it you will think “What would Lauren Do?” It will be like I am there being your cheerleader to always choose the healthy choice. Smoothie, fresh juice, purified water…. no soda, diet or energy drink here 🙂 Did I mention how good my Superfood Coffee Replacement tastes in here?

Well now that you have had a glimpse of what my kitchen looks like, hopefully you are inspired to follow along in my foot steps. These tools are so much fun to use and really inspire you to create fabulous, healthy recipes that no meat eater could resist!

    Hi Lauren,

Loving your site! So glad I stumbled upon you through the NoMoreDirtyLooks.com site. I was wondering what cookware and bakeware you recommend. I have been using all cast iron (non-enameled) and was wanting to dig into buying some Le Creuset/Staub/etc enameled cast iron pots. Are these safe and good for cooking?

Thank you for any advice you can give!

    Hi Lauren,

Regarding water filters, you mentioned Aquasana as the best water system but only recommended ZeroWater over-the-counter systems. Do you think The Aquasana over the counter systems are not as good? This one, for instance: http://www.aquasana.com/powered-water-filtration

I’m assuming that this is same filter type as their complete home systems, but wasn’t sure if you thought these were insufficient.

    Thanks!
