Healthy Holiday Gift Ideas!

Yes it is that time of season again! The time of season when we give gifts to our loved ones in order to let them know how much they mean to us, and how much we appreciate them. Therefore, in order to truly show how much we love and care for them, why not offer them the gift of health? The following is my round up of my favorite healthy holiday gift ideas I am giving this year (note: family and friends look away… one of these may be in your stocking or under your tree this year).

For Her:

1. All natural, organic make up from W3ll People

W3ll edit

To start off the list, is all natural, ORGANIC, make up by W3ll People. This is by far and away the best natural make up I have used. First off, the Narcissist foundation stick makes your skin glow like you have never seen. It is easy to apply, stays on all day, and the best part is that it makes your skin soft as well. It is rich in healing properties such as aloe, chamomile and green tea, so it acts not only as a foundation, but as moisturizer as well. Fantastic!!

Secondly, W3ll People also sells fabulous Natural Lover Kits that come with three items geared towards a certain look. I personally have the Natural Warrior and cannot explain how many compliments I get on my make up. It gives you just enough of a shimmer and hint of color that you still look like yourself, but just your best version.

Getting my Make Up done at W3ll People!

Yup! There I am getting my make up done. If you happen to live in Austin, Texas, head over to W3ll People asap! They have fabulous make up artists for make up lessons and make overs, and they give you all the ins and outs of the products they carry – which also includes natural deodorants, skin care, sunscreens and even perfumes! Yes, there are lots of expletives here… I cannot explain how much I love this place!

2. Cranberry Gommage Exfoliant by Arcona

ArconaNow I have been around the block once or twice, and I am not one to be impressed by something easily, so when I tell you that this is hands down the best exfoliator ever, I mean it! I got a sample and after one use my skin was like a baby’s bottom. Super smooth and radiant. Plus, it is made will all natural, non-toxic ingredients such as witch hazel (anti-inflammtory), zeolite (detoxifying agent) and cranberry and raspberry enzymes (exfoliants and rejuvenative agents). You only have to use it about once a week to notice a difference, so the bottle goes a long way.

3. Escentric 02 Perfume by Escentric Molecules

Molecule 2

It is not every day that you come across a natural perfume that screams WOW. This perfume was first introduced to me by the masterminds behind W3ll People, and in line with their elitist taste, this perfume knocked me off my feet. I am extremely sensitive to smells, making it very difficult for me to find one that I like, but as for non-toxic scents go, this is IT. The interesting fact is that it was created to meld with your natural pheromones (you know, those natural sex chemicals we excrete to attract the opposite sex?) to create an individual scent that is personalized to the wearer. Get this now.

4. Gift Certificate to an Infrared Sauna house, Pilates, Yoga or Spin Class, or a Spa

Yoga Retreat

Yoga Retreat

The gift of taking care of your body and mind never gets old. Every year I cannot wait to get a gift certificate to one of my favorite studios or spa treatments, because it is the one thing we all enjoy so much but tend to not want to spend as much money on. While I think we all deserve to be a bit indulgent in this area, a gift certificate always hits the spot. Plus, you can always make a gift package of it by pairing it with associated items… athletic gear, a yoga mat, spin shoes, face masks, candles etc. Or you can purchase a special event at their favorite studio such as a retreat or workshop.

5. Jewelry by Me & Ro

Me & Ro

When all else fails, choose jewelry. Me & Ro makes beautiful jewelry that focuses on spiritual messages and meanings. Each piece is unique and has its own symbolism, using ancient characters from Tibetan, Chinese, Sanskrit and Tamil languages. This way you can carry your faith with you where ever you go, reminding you of what is really important.

For Him:

1. Finishing Salve by Dear Clark.

Dear Clark.

A man is only as good as his hair, right? Well no, but if you got it, then you got to learn how to rock it. This hair balm, also known as finishing salve, is by a boutique brand, Dear Clark that comes right out of the heart of Texas. It was created by two hair stylists who wanted to promote the local use of all natural ingredients to create products that not only worked well but felt just like our chemical-laden favorites. It is made with Rose of Jericho, Aloe Vera, Sunflower Seed Oil, Vitamin E and C, as well as Green Tea extract, helping to keep your hair healthy and strong.

2. Vitamix High Speed Blender

vitamix

While you may think that a Vitamix blender is more of a girls gift, think a bit harder… It has a turbo, multiple speed engine, it requires little to no clean up, it can obliterate practically anything that is put inside of it, and it is 100% forgiving. Oh ya, it also requires little to no cooking skills, and can turn protein powder into a complete meal. Think pancakes, puddings, breads, smoothies and of course, bars. Did I mention that it also makes a killer cocktail and marinade? Yes, all you men out there need a Vitamix. You can thank me later.

3. Yoga Backpack by Aurorae

Backpack

It is my personal belief that every man needs a kick ass backpack. One that will carry sweaty gym clothes, favorite gadgets and trinkets, an ipad, water bottle, snacks, and of course, a yoga mat. Guess what? This backpack does just that. Made by a yoga company Aurorae, this backpack slings across the back, so it is really comfortable to wear while he is busy running, hiking, biking and being a guy. Done and done.

4. Subscription to Outside Magazine

Outside magazine

This is the gift that keeps giving. While I know most people tend to read everything online now, there is nothing more special than the written word. Especially when it comes as surprise in your mailbox every month. Outside magazine is packed with adventure stories, new places to travel, and innovative ways to keep yourself active and engaged in nature.

For the Food Lover:

1. The Sprouted Kitchen Cookbook

Fort_9781607741145_cover

If you have been following me for awhile now then you know how much I love and adore The Sprouted Kitchen. Because of them I always have a go-to for healthy, plant-based recipes that I KNOW are going to turn out fantastic. This is their first cookbook, and it has lived up to my expectations in every way. Give the gift of the perfectly cooked home cooked meal this holiday season.

2.Vegetarian Everyday

VegetarianEveryday_cover

Have a few free extra hours to kill and love perusing good-looking, vegetarian cooking? Then check out Green Kitchen Stories. Much like The Sprouted Kitchen, they have captured my eyes, my heart and my belly. This is their cookbook, and the perfect gift to expand your healthy cooking repertoire.

3. Spiral Vegetable Slicer by Paderno World Cuisine

Zucchini Noodles by Love and Lemons

Zucchini Noodles by Love and Lemons

If it was not for the spiral vegetables slicer than you could never make this zucchini noodle & avocado-miso bowl by Love and Lemons. Ever since I got my spiral slicer, I have been making zucchini and sweet potato noodle bowls. I love eating them as a pasta replacement, which helps to scale back the refined carbohydrates and gluten. So if you are looking for a new fun kitchen toy, or know someone who loves to get creative, this is the perfect little gift.

4. Raw Chef Courses Online with Russell James

Mint Ice Cream Sandwich by Russell James

Mint Ice Cream Sandwich by Russell James

Do you know anyone who would want to learn how to make this RAW ice cream sandwich? Well then you must give them the gift of online chef courses by “The Raw Chef,” Russell James. Russell James is by far and away one of my favorite raw chef’s who not only creates accessible raw recipes, but also now offers a complete homestudy course. He guides you through everything you need to know in order to transform your culinary skills. Fermentation, nut cheeses, seed breads, to even elixirs, he misses nothing! All taught through high-quality videos, his affable personality and sheer talent put this course to the top of my Santa’s list this season. Give this gift to anyone looking to get into healthy cooking, and who knows, maybe you will get a meal or two out of it as well!

5. 3 Months of Healthy Snacks by NatureBox

Nature BoxAs I was thinking about the perfect gift for my dad this year, I came up with the idea that I would love to give him the gift of a healthy snack delivery. He is always too busy at work to prepare healthy snacks or to even plan ahead, which drives me crazy, so I was extremely happy to find Nature Box. It is a box of customized snacks that can be delivered right to your door (or office) every month. This way you will always have a nutritious option on hand, preventing you from eating that bag of chips, candy bar, or any other desperate food option that is available to you when you are starving. Some of the options include: baked sweet potato fries, flax crackers, cranberry almond bites and dried vegetable chips.

For the Family:

1. Austin Air Healthmate Air Purifier

Austin Air Purifier

Austin Air Purifier

Okay, here is my confession. My number one Christmas gift to myself this season (yes, I do think we deserve to get ourselves something as well), was an Austin Air Purifier. I have been wanting one of these air purifiers for a couple years now, and I finally pulled the plug. While they are pretty expensive, I believe they are the best air purifier available. It cleans the air of sub-micron particles (dust, pollen, smoke, viruses, bacteria, dander, mold), noxious gases, and chemicals, without creating toxic by-products such as ozone (this is common with other air purifiers). This is so important because despite what we may think, the air we breath inside our homes can be toxic. Studies even report that the air inside our homes is more toxic than the air outside our homes, and is oftentimes the cause of a host of health conditions ranging from asthma, allergies, headaches, sleep issues to chronic immune conditions. Along with having a proper water filter, I firmly believe that having an air purifier is one of the most important things you can do for your health.

2. Zero Water Dispenser and Filtration System

Zero Water Filter

Zero Water Filter

While this is not the most sexiest of holiday gifts, it certainly fits the practical category. The zero water filter is by far and away my favorite water filter that does not have to be installed. It is a 5 stage ion exchange filter, that helps to clear contaminants from water, similar to reverse osmosis. The reason I love it is because it is extremely affordable, it does not have to be installed, it is easy to change the filters, and for people who cannot afford to invest in an under the counter RO system, this is a great alternative. I must remind you that having clean water to drink is one of THE most important basics for having a healthy body, and should be a priority for every household.

3. The Olive Crate by Williams-Sonoma

Olive Crate

Olive Crate

They had me at Hello. This gift set includes an organic olive tree (yes a real tree!), artisan, unfiltered olive oil, along with Blithe and Bonny Olive and Avocado Hand Cream, and Blithe and Bonny Exfoliating Goat’s Milk Soap. Hand made from a family in Santa Cruz, the products are free of chemicals and parabens, and features an herbal fragrance derived from essential oils of cedar, rosemary, mint and sage. Not into olives? Check out their other crates which include blueberry shrubs, pomegranate cocktail kits and rosemary or lavender bushes for making infused oils and skincare items. I swoon.

Stocking Stuffers:

1. Navitas Naturals Cacao Goji Superfood Snack

Cacao Goji Power SnackNo matter how creative, how inventive, or how good of a cook you are, coming up with snacks ideas always seems to be a sticking point for most, especially ones that are good for on-the-go. That is why I love these power snacks by Navitas Naturals. An organic snack made with all the good stuff – cacao, goji berries, chia and sunflower seeds, maca, lucuma, camu camu and dates – they are packed with tons of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and adaptogens. The best part is that they are actually filling, making it one of my favorite stocking stuffers for the men in my life.

2. Raw Pistachio Butter by Wilderness Poets

Pistachio Butter

Pistachio Butter

The typical Christmas stocking is meant for those little things that you typically wouldn’t buy yourself, and that is why I think pistachio butter is the perfect choice. It is completely decadent, definitely pricey, but absolutely worth the price once you try it. While I could mention all the ways in which you could use pistachio butter, I personally cannot make it past licking it off the spoon. Divine.

3. The Power of Now: Inspiration Cards

The Power of Now: Inspirational Cards

The Power of Now: Inspirational Cards

The Power of Now is possibly one of the most inspirational, life changing books I have ever read. It is the perfect start for anyone yearning to explore the path of positive thinking and enlightenment, because it is easy to understand, and provides the tools that you need to start putting the concepts into practice. That is why I love these inspirational cards – short reminders of the tools and influential passages to keep you motivated day in and day out.

That make-up looks wonderful, and I want to give it a try. However, when I go to their website, I cannot seem to find information on picking a shade of foundation/make-up that is appropriate for my skin tone. The link says that it is “under construction”. Any idea how I would be able to pick a foundation color?
    Thanks!

Hi Adriana – go here: http://www.w3llpeople.com/face/narcissist-stick-foundation.html

You can email them or contact them directly and they will have you send them a photograph of yourself. They will then match your skin with the right foundation. It’s awesome! Cannot wait to hear your feedback 🙂

Thanks, Lauren. I e-mailed them my photo, and I’m still waiting to hear back about their shade recommendation. As soon as I do, I’ll place the order and let you know what I think when I receive the products. I’ve admittedly tried many different types of “natural” make-up since slowly getting rid of all chemical products, and I still haven’t found one that really helps cover while still providing a nice glow to the skin. Hoping this will be the one!

Got my products! I really love the cover-up stick that you highlighted in your post. It’s amazing! I also ordered some powder foundation, blush, bronzer, and a lipstick/balm. The blush is a perfect shade of pink and has a nice hint of shimmer to it. The foundation powder is also nice but does make some of my fine lines more noticeable, while the bronzer was a bit too brown for me. The lipstick/balm is awesome! Thanks for the recommendation. I will order again.

I just ordered the cranberry gommage off Amazon; thank you for the suggestion. I’ve been getting chemical peels for the last couple of years, but my skin is much better now, and the cost is prohibitive (but it was worth it during the journey).

I am so excited to hear about what you think. I only use it a couple times a week, but that is more than enough. My skin has felt so soft 🙂

These items are great! Christmas is near and thanks for giving me these ideas. I may probably buy the All natural organic makeup and Jewelry by Me& Ro.
