Hello my lovely health friends! This morning I want to share with you my favorite finds in the health and wellness world. I am overwhelmed with how quickly our world is growing with new foods, personal care products, recipes and household items – I can hardly keep up! That is why I am dying to share my favorite things, especially a few ideas for healthy vegan energy snacks.
We are so lucky to live in a time where people are really grasping the importance of living well and clean, and have been inspired enough to contribute to it. So today I want to have a proper show and tell. Many of these items are specialty, but thanks to the internet, you can purchase them no matter where you live. While I am a huge fan of buying local, I also realize the importance of supporting small businesses and start ups. Many of these companies are run by first time business owners, people who are taking a chance and diving into the nutrition and wellness field, so let’s do our part to keep them in business. Share, tell your friends, promote on social media, and send them a note of appreciation if you love them too!
* Disclaimer: I have NOT been paid to write about these products. I am simply writing about them because I love them 🙂
1. Dr. Cow Nut Cheese
Imagine this… hard cheeses that are combined with superfoods such as kale, hemp seeds, blue-green-algae and dulse. They taste like regular cheeses – velvety, creamy and decadent – and pair perfectly with seed crackers, and fresh fruit. They look like normal dairy cheese, and contain the same healthy probiotics as cow’s cheese does, but are in fact made with macadamia nuts and cashews. Welcome to Dr. Cow’s aged nut cheese. 100% dairy-free, no gluten, no casein, no soy and lactose free, 100% organic and vegan! Plus unlike other vegan cheeses, they are made with absolutely no preservatives, stabilizers, artificial ingredients or additives of any kind, which is virtually impossible to find else where. I cannot express enough how much I love, I mean ADORE these cheeses. I have to order them online and have them shipped from New York, but they are worth every penny. One cheese block is good for about 5 servings so they last quite awhile. Plus, they are just that extra special thing you need for a health-inspired dinner party, special occasion, or decadent afternoon treat. Pair them with some Mary’s Gone Crackers, a jalapeno sweet jam, and a nice class of organic wine, and I promise that you will be in heaven. Enjoy!

2. EnerHealth Mushroom Coffee and Coconut Milk Powder
Hello to all my fellow coffee drinkers that have a love for all things healthy, exotic and life enhancing! I want to share with you one of the most unique coffee products on the market by a small company called EnerHealth Botanicals. Now I am sure most of you have not heard of them before, because as I mentioned previously, they are one of those small businesses doing amazing, field changing things. They have created a 100% Certified Organic Arabica Bean coffee (low-acid) that is infused with the powerful performance enhancing mushrooms, Cordyceps and Reishi. Once you brew the coffee beans, you then add the coffee to a blender. Then you will create a coffee drink by adding in their Coconut Milk Powder and their Cocoa Mojo. Cocoa Mojo is raw cacao powder blended with extracts from the following mushrooms: Agaricus Blazei, Cordyceps Sinensis, Grifola Frondosa, Ganoderma Lucidum (Reishi), Coriollus Versicolor, Lentinula Edodes. It is then sweetened with coconut sugar. The best part is that it has no mushroom or earthy taste whatsoever.
The reason I love this coffee blend is because it does not elicit the same reaction as normal coffee does. First off, it is low acid so it doesn’t upset your stomach. Secondly, it contains mushrooms that are extremely nourishing to the body. They help to improve performance, increase energy, offset the damaging effects of stress, and they keep your immune system strong (and that is the short list!). The coconut milk then offers a slow release of the caffeine, preventing the usual caffeine crash, in addition to increasing the metabolism – very similar to Bulletproof coffee. This unique coffee combination can therefore really help with athletic performance and weight loss. Finally, it tastes awesome and you don’t have to worry about the usual toxic offenders that live in creamers or coffee blended drinks. Try it and let me know what you think!
3. Montana Mix by Essential Living Foods
I am always on the look out for a new on-the-go superfood snack, especially a healthy vegan energy snack. One that I can keep in my work desk, my computer bag, or glove compartment for the unexpectedly long days, stress-induced low blood sugar moments, or grid-lock traffic. This new mix by Essential Living Foods is perfect. It has freeze-dried blueberries, chocolate-covered goji berries, almonds, pine nuts, and goji berries. Each one of these foods are mood-enhancing, age-defying, and beautifying. What you choose to snack on every day is really important, because so often our snack choices are the worst foods we choose for the day. This blend is also a great option for kids, or for those who are less willing to eat healthy. The chocolate always seems to help get the good stuff down 🙂

4. Pumpkin Seed Renew Serum by Aroma & Co.
I don’t come across facial products that are both effective and non-toxic very often. But this is IT! I was beyond surprised at how well this pumpkin serum worked. I have pretty good skin to start, but this serum really took it to the next level. To start, it smells amazing… one part earthy and one part flowery, without being overpowering. Second, it absorbs really well. I use it before bedtime, on my freshly washed face, and my skin soaks it right up. Finally, it works. I mean really works. It helps to smooth out the skin, even skin tone and softens the texture. I wasn’t really expecting much to happen at all, and then all of a sudden, probably after a few weeks of using, I kept getting compliments on my skin. How youthful it looked and how it was glowing… that is when I realized it had done a little magic on me. This organic serum was designed to renew the skin through cellular regeneration. Using fatty Acids and Vitamins A, C, E, Zinc the nutrients build the skin from the inside out, repairing any damage done. As a girl who lives in the sun, I know all about sun damage. The interesting thing is that it contains rose hip oil. Research has shown that the continuous application of rose hip oil effectively helped in attenuating scars and wrinkles in preventing advancement of premature aging, and in regaining lost skin natural color and tone. I love the science behind it – added plus!
Here are the ingredients: rosa canina (rosehip) fruit oil*. cucurbita pepo (pumpkin) seed oil*. limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil. helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*. extracts of lavandula angustifolia (lavender)*, daucus carota sativa (carrot) root*, lonicera japonica (honeysuckle) flower*, symphytum officinale (comfrey) leaf*, foeniculum vulgar (fennel) fruit*. fragrance (100% essential oils). *certified organic.

5. Boll & Branch 100% Organic Bed Sheets
I had no idea what I was missing until I slept in a pair of these sheets. 100% organic hand-picked cotton, these eco-friendly sheets are not like anything else I have tried, organic or not. The best part is that they are woven by workers who are paid fairly and treated well, and the company, Boll & Branch, donates a portion of every sale to Not For Sale. Not for Sale is an organization which fights modern-day slavery around the world. Slavery from sex trafficking, forced labor, debt bondage, and military servitude. It has been one week since I have had them, and I really cannot get over them… I feel like a broken record, telling everyone I know about how wonderful they are. I really truly have had the best sleep ever with them. I don’t know if its my imagination or what, but you must try them out for yourself to see.
And why organic? Just like organic food versus conventional, non-organic cotton has been sprayed with large amounts of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, that are not only damaging to the environment but to your health as well. Non-organic sheets are often treated with formaldehyde to make them wrinkle-free. Formaldehyde is a cancer-causing chemical, which can result in respiratory symptoms, and eye, nose, and throat irritation. Polyester, another common fabric used in sheets is synthetic. Synthetic fibers do not breath the way natural fibers like cotton do. As a result, they can interfere with the thermoregulation of the body, preventing a good night’s sleep. Furthermore, regular polyester is made from petroleum, which can also off-gas chemicals. These are just a few of the chemicals that may be lurking in your sheets, so please take the extra effort to purchase organic ones.

6. Superfood Smoothies by Julie Morris
If you have not heard of Julie Morris, then today is your lucky day! Author of Superfood Kitchen, Superfood Juices and now Superfood Smoothies, she is THE master of all things superfoods. Working with the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, she constructs unique and delicious healthy recipes that act like medicine, but taste amazing. As a fan, or rather addict of smoothies, I was so excited to receive a copy of this cookbook. It is loaded with 100 smoothies that range from the very simple to the more complex. My favorite chapters are the ones that feature creamy dessert recipes like a Cookie Dough Smoothie and the ones that incorporate rather odd ingredients such as cauliflower and tomatoes. So no matter what your level of expertise is in the smoothie making world, you will find smoothies fit to your culinary skills and taste buds. My latest go-to is her Strawberry Basil Smoothie, but I always go back to one of my favorites, Mint Chocolate Chip. Made from spinach, mint, cacao and coconut water, it easily convinces me that I am eating ice cream for breakfast. You’ve got to get this book!

8. Vega Sport Sugar-free Energizer
The past few months I have played around with natural energizers in effort to rotate my normal cup of coffee. I have tried teas, powders and herbs like yerba mate, but none really seemed to make me feel how I wanted to feel, until this. I am not convinced by many products that claim to energize you, especially “naturally,” but I must tell you, this one works. I mean really really works. I use it in the morning instead of my EnerHealth coffee some days, or right before I work out in the afternoon. Another added benefit is that it helps you drink water and stay hydrated. Most often we are tired because we are dehydrated, so this helps to overcome both – fatigue and dehydration. Try it and let me know what you think!
