We are so fortunate to live in a time where there are so many brilliant companies and minds putting their efforts towards living consciously. With the mission to raise awareness about protecting our earth and our health, we are flooded with amazing products, services, books and tools. The list continues to get longer and longer as we as a whole desire this change in life, leading me to my Friday Favorites.
This Friday I have chosen a wide range of things to tell you about. I am constantly on the look out for new products to try, services to use, cookbooks to eat from, and techniques from which to grow my spiritual practice. So here is a list of all the things you need to know about, and try out today.
Boll & Branch has been one of my favorite organic cotton linen companies for a long time now. They are a brand that sells fine linens and throws that are made ethically, from only organic materials, without compromising quality and feel. They make the softest sheets (I mean the kind that make you never want to get out of bed), and now the best cotton towels. These towels are fluffy, absorbent, and comfy, and way too decadent. They are the ones that you use at 5-star hotels, making you feel like a queen. And the best part? Not only are they 100% cotton, they are organic, free of chemicals, pesticides, and are made consciously – no child labor or unsafe factories – and are made with an awareness for the environment. Try them out!
I am definitely a snack person. Three smalls meals and lots of snacks in between. That is why I am crazy over this Vegan snack box delivery. Imagine that once a month a box arrives at your door with presents inside. These presents are presents that you can eat, and are delicious, AND healthy! Pretty much the best thing ever. Vegan Cuts is a company that I have used and have loved. They always surprise me with brands I have never tried, and there is always a great blend of savory and sweet snacks, as well as a fun drink, a superfood powder to add to smoothies, and a special treat. Grab a subscription to this company because its the easiest way to keep snacking while staying healthy and at the weight you desire. Win, win.
One of the hardest things about eating healthy is the cost. I feel you guys here. This is why I am telling everyone about Thrive Market. Thrive Market is the first socially conscious online marketplace selling truly natural and organic products at wholesale prices (yes, they sell all the brands you actually WANT to buy). Think Costco meets Whole Foods online. For less than $5 a month ($59.95 annually), you can shop food, supplements, home, personal care, and beauty products from more than 400 of the best brands on the market for 25-50% below retail prices. They have a ton of the high-end brands you usually cannot afford, and now you can! I just made my first order and got Mattole Valley and Sunwarrior protein powders, Mary’s Gone Crackers, Goodbites desserts, and Jem Raw Organics Cinnamon Red Maca Almond Butter (really excited about this one – always too expensive to buy, and now I can afford it!). Check them out because I think this is a great solution to keeping our kitchen’s stocked with the healthiest and tastiest products, while keeping the bank accounts from hitting zero.
If you have been following my Instagram, then you know that I have been braving some seriously dry climates. From the mountains of Taos, New Mexico, to the snowy faces of the Andes in Chile, nothing was more precious to me than this facial serum from Kaeng Raeng. This facial serum is extremely hydrating, soothing and nourishing without being too oily or congesting. It is well named, After Glow, because it helps the skin to feel bright and rejuvenated, even after a long day spent in harsh elements. It it is made with only natural oils like rosehip, argan, frankincense, rosemary, neroli and lavender, making it very effective and clean. So if you are looking for a new facial routine, grab a bottle of After Glow and let me know what you think.
If you got a chance to try out the recipe for Almond + Blueberry Soft Serve Sandwiches, then you already know that you NEED this cookbook. As we have learned before, I am a snacker. Which is exactly the reason I was so very drawn to this cookbook written by health chef superstar, and my personal close friend, Julie Morris. Superfood Snacks is your answer to guilt-free desserts, dips, crackers, and all other things savory and sweet. Think Candied Hemp Seed Clusters, Maca, Coconut and Black Rice Pudding, Goji Walnut Hummus, Hot Creamy Kale Dip, and Cookie Dough Protein Bites. And yes, these are all gluten-free, vegan, and otherwise “diet” approved. Perfect for uping your office snack game routine, restoring life to your pre and post-workout food choices, and for luring your children away from the conventional, and awful-for-you “after school” snack options. Being a super nerd about supplements, it is not too often that I come across a brand that knocks my socks off. Onnit did. They are a company focused on making high-performance supplements, ones that are going to ramp up your body like never before. For the last six weeks or so I have been taking their New Mood, Alpha Brain, and Shroom Tech Sport. The combination of these are geared towards lowering stress, boosting focus and concentration, and ramping up energy, physical performance and endurance… and they work. The best part is that they are all natural – no excipients, chemicals, or tablets – and have diligent testing, and only use pure raw materials. They also have a great knowledge for combining herbs, mushrooms, and nutrients, which is why their formulas perform. I am also addicted to their Chai Matcha Latte, which is made from coconut milk powder, coconut nectar, matcha, chai (turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, pepper, cloves), sunflower lecithin and stevia, and their Daily Greens. One scoop makes a super creamy, not-so-sweet, drink that is my new go-to in the afternoon. Definitely check out this company and give their products a try. Loving them right now.
If I could get this book into the hands of every person on earth, then I would feel like my job here was complete. This is NOT a religious book, it is merely a book about having a real deal conversation with God. It does not matter what your beliefs are or your religion is, you will be touched by this book. In my opinion, it is the best way to start finding your true self, your truth, and your place in this world. It takes away a lot of the fear, answers so many of our most pressing life questions, and fills you with so much love and peace that there is no way you will not be changed by reading these words. One thing I know for certain, this book is not what you think it is and it will in fact change your life. Grab your own copy here.
This recipe! It is the best thing I have made in the past few months and you absolutely need to try it. In fact, I am eating it now, savoring every single bite of spices, which happen to get better and better as days pass. The dal is amazing on its own, so you can keep eating that day after day even after the potatoes are gone. A perfect meal to call in the fall season, warming, nourishing and filling. All bellies will approve here. A big heartfelt thank you to the creators of this dish, Green Kitchen Stories.
Now this is a documentary to watch. I just recently watched Cowspiracy (now streaming on Netflix) which is a must see for everyone. Through this film, the veil has been lifted, revealing a truth that has been hidden for decades now – animal agriculture is the leading cause of deforestation, water consumption and pollution. It is responsible for more greenhouse gases than the transportation industry, and is a primary driver of rain forest destruction, species extinction, habitat loss, topsoil erosion, ocean “dead zones,” and virtually every other environmental ill. Yet it goes on, almost entirely unchallenged. Watch this film and see how going plant-based is the answer for saving our precious, and most beautiful ecosystem.
There it is! All the things I am loving at the moment. I do hope you find a couple things to love as well, and definitely let me know what you think.
