One of big changes we undergo when deciding to take responsibility for our health is switching to non-toxic, organic and natural skincare. This is because most all the skincare products we use from our facial cleanser and moisturizer, to shampoo and shaving cream contain harmful chemicals. And it does not stop there. Did you know that the makeup that you use daily also contains toxic chemicals? I know, scary. Makeup contains all kinds of chemicals that just like other skincare products can cause damage to our delicate health system. Once applied, the chemicals from our makeup (ingredients such as coal tar colours, phenylenediamine, benzene and even formaldehyde) absorb into the skin. They are known to interrupt hormone balance, lead to infertility, organ damage and dysfunction, and even cancer in some cases. Not exactly what you bargained for when buying that new lipstick huh. I know making the switch is hard – breaking up with our favorite makeup brand might just be harder than breaking up with our boyfriend – but I have found natural make up that works.
There is a lot to learn about how the chemicals found in your skincare and makeup are harmful, so if you want to learn more, I urge you to read my article “Chemical-free Skincare: Why switch to organic and 100% natural.” This will give you all the details that you are dying to know, hopefully offering you the motivation you need to make the switch. And for those of you who are convinced that switching to organic and non toxic makeup is the right choice, but don’t know how to find natural makeup that works, I am here to give you answers. After lots and lots of experimentation – days of cakey foundation, clumpy mascara, uneven eye shadow and lackluster lipstick – I have finally found the natural makeup that works. Check out my list of my favorite natural makeup products that I personally use, and standby 100% .
